Hero Project

DUE DATES:

  • Page 1 – Thursday, January 26
  • Page 2 – Thursday, February 9
  • Page 3 – Thursday, February 23
  • Page 4 – Thursday, March 8
  • Final Assembly – Week of March 12

Each group of three will be responsible for compiling a newspaper focused on one of the heroes listed below.  In the end, we will gather the articles and images and create a website for each hero in the style of a newspaper.  The sections, point values and due dates are below.  All items are to be turned in electronically.  Feel free to add more details/images etc.  Track individual’s contributions to the project as their will be a peer grade element in the end.

SECTIONS:

  • Home page
    • Title (be creative, but connect to your hero)
    • Main Story (main adventures of hero)
    • Feature Story (another story that is relevant)
    • Photograph / Picture (at least 1 to go with main story)
    • Index (list of links, then fill it in for final copy)
  • Page 2

     

    • Editorial / Blog (your opinion on any cultural issue dealing with your hero)
    • Police Report (hero’s crimes/deeds reported)
    • Sports (events in hero’s life with a sports theme)
    • The World / International Section (deals with any stories of your hero away from his/her homeland)
  • Page 3

     

    • Advice Column (at least 2 letters or advice topics)
    • Lifestyle Section (be creative)
    • Food Section (meal/dish based on monster killed)
    • Classified Ads (at least 5 pertaining to jobs or items for sale based on the hero’s story)
  • Page 4

     

    • Obituaries (Hero and any others s/he killed or who died in the stories)
    • Games and Puzzles (at least 2)
    • Comics (at least 3 – can be humor or adventure – at least two must have multiple panels)
    • Entertainment (be creative with something modernized based on your hero that would be appropriate for the world of entertainment)
  • Final copy

     

    • After you turn in all sections, we will have time together to put it together as a webpage

GRADES:

Each section will be 10 points except Title and Index which are 5 each.  You will be graded on whether it fits the stlye of article, the accuracy of the information, and the grammar and spelling of the item.
