You Can Now Print a Monthly School Calendar

February 10, 2012

We all know to check the NC website for the latest and most up-to-date School Calendar.

Now you can print a monthly view of the school calendar.  Just go to the school calendar webpage and click on the icon for “Print a Monthly Calendar”.  You can choose which month to print.

For best results, we suggest printing this in landscape mode.  But printing in normal portrait mode will also work.

We are providing this new feature for your convenience, but also remind you that the calendar gets updated from time-to-time, so please rely on the Online Calendar for the latest and greatest.

State Championship Banners Updated

February 5, 2012

New Individual State Championship banners added to the NC gym in 2011

Have you noticed the new State Championship banners hanging in the Newark Catholic gym, over by student section?

We have new banners this year honoring the individual state champions from over the years.  These new banners are in addition to the team championship banners we have hanging all around the gym.

We’ve also updated our State Championships web page to include these new banners in our scrolling showcase.  Have a look!   (under the Athletics Menu, see State Championships.  Or click here.)

Newark Catholic is proud of all our team and individual state champions and are pleased to celebrate their achievements.

New GPA Calculator Online

January 24, 2012

We have updated the GPA calculator, you can find it here. There are two versions, one for Excel 97-2003 and another for Excel 2007.

Please read the following to better understand your report card.

There are three types of grades earned by students:

Percentages

This is the grade earned for a class by a student during each of the four quarters.

Letter Grade

All four quarter percentages and the exam are converted to a letter grade (A, B+, B, B-, etc.).

The exam only has a letter grade value.  The percentage is not reported.

GPA

The quarter grades and exam grades are converted to a 4-point scale (4.0 = perfect GPA). These values on the 4-point scale are used to determine semester averages. When the semester and final grades are calculated back to a letter grade, the percentage is not a factor, only the 4-point scale value.

The structure of the 4-point scale:

Headline News & Sports Combined

December 20, 2011

We’ve made an update to the NC website to make it simpler & more efficient to get the News & Sports Headline stories each day.

We’ve introduced a new “Headline News & Sports” category of stories to provide quick access to a variety of news & sports stories and pictures.  These are the stories that have their excerpts shown on the Home page in the 2nd tab.

This combines the previous “NC Wire: News” and “NC Wire: Sports” categories into one.  Based on website usage patterns, we believe this change will make viewing our site more efficient for the typical NC website visitor.

Thanks for using our Newark Catholic High School Website.
