Naviance Student is a one-stop site for many of your needs in high school. When you log into the site, you will be presented with opportunities to research, compare, study, review, explore, and set goals.

Freshman Year
- StrengthsExplorer – answer personality and preference questions to zero in on your strengths
- Career Interest Profiler – Look at your interests against a variety of careers to help open up your choices for your future.
- Resume Builder – begin compiling your resume items so that you have a constant record of your accomplishments and activities.
Sophomore Year
- Career Exploration – use your results from the StrengthsExplorer and Career Interest Profiler to begin zeroing in on your career interests.
- College SuperMatch – use Hobson’s extensive research to look at colleges with a variety of characteristics, such as small/large, public/private, Catholic/secular; search by major, price range, ACT scores accepted, rigor, etc. View the colleges side-by-side for comparison.
- ACT Test Prep – begin looking at the format and content of the ACT test and work with the Test Prep site to gauge your future successes and problem areas on the test.
Junior Year
- Colleges I am Considering – begin the list of colleges you are considering based on initial research; revise and adjust throughout the year.
- College Visits – colleges visiting NC are posted on Naviance and students can RSVP in Naviance if they wish to attend that visit.
- ACT Test Prep – Use regularly-scheduled test prep to make ACT questions comfortable and weak areas strengthened through practice. Take a few full-length tests to gauge your future score.
- Resume – continue adding to your resume with accomplishments and activities. Identify weaknesses and develop a plan to fill the holes. For example, if you are weak in community service, contact an agency and schedule 2 hours/week to volunteer.
- Organize a timeline for senior year – use the to-do list and task page to create tasks and deadlines. When are the application deadlines? the scholarship deadlines? last ACT date? AP testing dates
Senior Year
- Colleges I am Applying To – shift the colleges that you are applying to over to this list. Once this is done, you can begin requesting transcripts and other supporting documents from the guidance office through Naviance.
- Scholarship List – use the scholarship list to create priorities for these applications and begin compiling deadlines
- Resume – complete your resume on Naviance; print it and distribute to your recommenders.
