College Credit Plus 2019-2020 Informational Meeting

There will be a meeting to learn about NC’s College Credit Plus Program for the 2019-2020 school year on Wednesday, January 30 at 7:00 pm in the cafeteria.  Mrs. Welch will be presenting the benefits and potential risks, available courses and colleges, as well as the paperwork needed to participate.  Local college reps will also attend so you can talk to them about their courses and application process.  This program expects that the students are the driving force behind their participation, not the parent, and students are treated as college students by the colleges.

We ask that all interested students attend with a parent to ensure that you have a clear understanding of the program.  Students participating in the program are now required to attend a counseling session with their parent about CCP, and attending the informational meeting satisfies this requirement.  If you are unable to attend, students and a parent will need to schedule a meeting with the counselor to discuss their participation in the program.

CCP is a program that allows students to take college courses while in high school, earning dual high school and college credit for each course.  Students apply to the college(s), send paperwork to the state to demonstrate their intent to participate in the program, and apply for the funding.  Students who complete the entire process can earn free tuition for the classes (paid by the state) and free textbooks (paid for by NC).  Currently, NC offers Introduction to Psychology and Composition I on our campus during the school day, or students can take on-campus or online courses from a variety of participating schools.

We look forward to seeing you on the 30th.
