Girls Golf Coach Gina Carpenter (NC ’01) Dies After Long Illness

Gina received her first set of golf clubs as a gift from her father, and the sport quickly became one of her greatest passions. She worked for several years at the Licking Springs Trout Club, eagerly waiting for the end of the work day when she could then play 36 holes with her cousin and great friend, Cory Conley. She was the head coach for the Newark Catholic Girls Golf Team the past 4 years, and was truly devoted to her team.
She was a graduate of Blessed Sacrament Elementary and a 2001 graduate of Newark Catholic High School. Gina continued her education at Ashland University and The Ohio State University where she studied sports management and psychology.
Gina passed away at the Arlington Care Center on Monday, July 23, 2012. She was the daughter of Paul and Sharon (Sutton) Carpenter.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Carpenter family.
There’s a nice story about Gina in the Newark Advocate here.
