Congratulations to the Newark Catholic Boys Golf Team for finishing 5th in the State (Division III) this year, concluding with the state tournament held October 14 & 15 at the OSU Scarlet course in Columbus.

The tournament was played in very challenging weather conditions, with high winds and cold temperatures making the Scarlet course a real test.  NC’s team started strong and near the top both days, but couldn’t sustain the strong play long enough to come out on top.  They still grinded it out and and finished in 5th place out of the 12-team field competing at the championship.

Kudos to all the Newark Catholic supporters who showed their support and school spirit, attending the tournament to support the team in less than ideal conditions.  A great testament to the NC family.

This has been a year of many accomplishments for the NC Boys Golf team, including:

  • 5th Place in the State
  • Sectional Champions (first time for NC)
  • Lowest team score ever for NC on its Moundbuilders home course (153)
  • Lowest team score ever for NC (+2), tying the low round of 146 set back in 2009
  • First place championship at the Circleville Invitational
  • Tied best-ever finish in MSL (2nd), matching the finish in 2010
  • Overall record of 88 – 26

Congratulations to the NC Boys Golf Team!  Well done!
