NC Boys Golf Team Advances to the State Tournament
Congratulations to the Newark Catholic Boys Golf Team as they successfully advanced out of the District playoffs on Tuesday and are headed to the State Tournament!
This marks the first time in the past ten years that the NC golf team has made it to the State Tournament and the 3rd time during Coach Giles’ 30-year tenure as coach.
The NC team played in the early group and posted a competitive team score, finishing strong after a slow start. They then had to sit and wait for a couple hours as the later scores were slowly posted one by one. As the very last score was posted, it was clear that NC would be advancing to the State Tournament.
Today’s round was led by Nick Mercer with 77, followed by David Muerer (79), Sean Thomas (81), Stephen Stein (85) and Will Nodo (87).
The State Tournament is next week Friday and Saturday (Oct 14 & 15) at the OSU Scarlet Course.
Come over to OSU Scarlet and support your NC Golf Team as they compete for a State Championship! Go Green!
