NC Golf Coach Joe Giles

Newark Catholic Golf Coach Joe Giles (NC 1974) has announced his retirement after serving as NC’s Varsity Golf Coach for 30 years.

During his tenure as head coach, NC’s golf teams have enjoyed much success, including getting to the State Finals on 3 different occasions.  This year’s team placed 5th in the state, following the 3rd place finish in 1998 and the 4th place finish in the 2001 State Tournament.  His teams have also won two league titles.

Coach Giles is a PGA Professional who has been recognized with numerous awards, including being named a 2010 and 2011 Golf Digest Top 10 Instructor in Ohio and a PGA Southern Ohio Teacher of the Year.  The success and development of this year’s team has benefited greatly over the years from the many lessons from Coach Giles.

Giles leaves the team in strong shape, including returning 3 of the 5 members of this year’s state finals team and other up and coming returning players.

Today Giles can be found at Granville Golfland where he continues to give lessons and develop players of all ages and skill levels.

Thank you, Coach Giles, for 30 great years of service!
