Parade for Class of 2020 Graduates

Parade for NC 2020 Graduates Sunday, May 31 at 5:00 pm

The vehicle parade route will begin on 26th street at 5:00 (facing north) escorted by Newark Police Department.  The police lead car will escort the participating community right onto Church Street, then right onto Green Wave Drive.  It is important to yield for traffic on Church Street-please be careful.  The police car will park at the light-blocking any other traffic turning onto Green Wave Drive.  Parade cars can wave, honk, and decorate signs to celebrate graduating seniors.  Safety is of the utmost importance.  At no time should any cars stop unless it’s necessary for the flow of traffic, and no one will exit vehicles at any time.  Adequately spaced, slow, steady pace of parade vehicles is the goal.  NC is proud of its 2020 graduates.  Thank you for celebrating their hard work and many achievements!

Seniors– We are excited to celebrate you!  Arrive at NC no later than 4:45 when you will be led in prayer. Feel free to decorate your cars, park in the front spaces in the parking lot facing Green Wave Dr.  Please wear your cap and gown with tassel to the right side.  You are welcome to stand along Green Wave Drive in an every-other sidewalk square (or at least 6 feet distance), and your immediate family members (parents and siblings only) may stand or sit directly behind you. Parents, please park on the opposite side of Green Wave Drive, as you would for any event when the parking lot is full.  As cars parade around to celebrate you, safety is very important.  Please refrain from crossing the grassy area in front of the sidewalk.  We want everyone to be able to enjoy without incident.  It is very important that social distancing guidelines are followed.  You will have your moment to be together as a class and celebrate Monday evening at dinner.  Upon exit of the last car, immediate family members are invited to walk across to the opposite side of the street, facing their graduate to get their cameras ready.  At this time, graduates will all be instructed to move their cap tassels together to the left, then instructed to gently toss their caps in the air.  Please enjoy what is to be a beautiful evening.  We are so happy to congratulate each and every one of you on a job well done!

June 2 and 3 will be our Diploma Pick-up Days with an optional Cap and Gown picture in the gym. In order to abide by the Governor’s directives, we have placed each senior and their family in a group to ensure social distancing. The following date and time are when each family should arrive:
