Letter from Miss Hill

Dear Friend of Newark Catholic,

It is with great anticipation that I invite you to our First Annual Catholic Community Prayer Breakfast to be held at Newark Catholic High School.

This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the many blessings we have been given as a Catholic School and to share the traditions, programs and practices of our Campus Ministry Program with our community.

Father Mike Gribble, Class of 1961, will be our main speaker with testimonials by recent graduates. The Newark Catholic Ensemble will also be featured in our program. Please consider joining us.

We look forward to sharing our Campus Ministry story with you on November 16. Please keep Newark Catholic High School in your prayers, as you will remain in ours.

Sincerely,

Beth Hill

Principal

Our Keynote Speaker:  Reverend G. Michael Gribble

Reverend G. Michael Gribble (NC class of ’61) has been all over the country, but his love of the faith and education has brought him back home time and again. After graduating from Newark Catholic, Father received his bachelors and masters degrees from The Ohio State University, and in 1981 received his master’s degree in divinity from The Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. On May, 16 1981, he was ordained a Roman Catholic priest for the Diocese of Columbus. Prior to his ordination, Father taught English and was the Chairperson of the Humanities Department at Bishop Ready, in Columbus, and taught English in Los Angeles, CA and again found himself back in central Ohio, in Reynoldsburg teaching English.

Father served as Associate Pastor for several parishes in central Ohio, and became pastor of Holy Rosary and Saint John parishes in Columbus in 1985 where he served for seven years. In 1992, Father was named past of Saint Edward the Confessor in Granville, where he served until 2000. From 2000 to his retirement, Father served as the Rector of Saint Joseph Cathedral in Columbus. During his time in the Diocese of Columbus, Father served as a member of a variety of organizations including Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Licking County and was the founder of the board for Saint John’s Learning Center. Father’s love for education and the student continued in his role as Chaplain for Denison University and Ohio Dominican University during his time in Granville and Columbus, respectively.

Father continues to serve the people of Licking County as a retired priest through the celebration of the sacraments at many of our local parishes and is an active and valued presence at Newark Catholic.
