The Visual Arts

“Looking at art is one way of listening to God.” -Sister Wendy Beckett"

The quote above by Sister Wendy Beckett describes what happens in the Visual Arts classes at Newark Catholic. In addition to looking at art, students create, respond, study artists and reflect on their artistic creations as a means to hear God’s voice in their own lives. At Newark Catholic we offer many classes that allow students to create in a way that best suits their learning needs. The classes are Art Fundamentals, Ceramics I and II, Painting I and II, Sculpture, Drawing and Independent Study courses for those students who are interested in a career in the Visual Arts. Each year in May, the Festival of the Arts celebrates all the artwork that students have completed throughout the school year.
