The application process to attend our Catholic high school begins in the Autumn of the student's 8th grade year. The school uses a rolling admissions process to review applications and may request to interview students. The application goes live annually on Grade 8 Day. Students should complete the application prior to Christmas whenever possible. Preference is given to students attending a Catholic grade-school in the Diocese of Columbus with average or better achievement in their course of study and satisfactory discipline and attendance. Students from schools other than diocesan Catholic elementary schools may be admitted based upon the following criteria: Completion of the application, Average or better achievement in their eighth-grade course of study, and Satisfactory Disciplinary & Attendance Records. Preference is given to Catholic students; however, we admit students of diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds.
Acceptances for the following school year begin in mid December and continue through January. Wait list notifications if deemed appropriate due to class size and capacity are generally sent after the new year each Winter. Admissions then functions on a rolling basis if no wait lists are deemed necessary. Once one receive his or her acceptance to attend Newark Catholic, the next step is to complete one’s enrollment for the upcoming year following the link sent via email to families with acceptance details.
Students applying to Newark Catholic High School are required to complete placement testing to determine current academic levels and readiness for independent academic work in their first year at NC. Placement Tests are NOT an entrance exam. Testing is held on two weekends annually in February and students who have already been accepted test on those dates. The results of placement testing along with materials submitted with one’s application prior to placement testing assists with data-driven course scheduling in the Spring.
While preference in admissions is given to students in Catholic elementary schools in the Diocese of Columbus specified to feed into Newark Catholic and to Catholic families pending approval of application materials and criteria, we admit students from diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds.
Absolutely! We welcome visitors! We understand that sometimes dates do not align. If you do not attend a Catholic elementary school that permits students to attend Grade 8 Day or presently attend another school and cannot make it to Grade 8 Day, campus tours are available by appointment. Please contact the Admissions to schedule your visit. We encourage all parents/guardians to attend Prospective Parent night. We also understand that in the discernment process, an additional visit or 1:1 tour can be most helpful, allowing us to tailor the visit to an individual’s interests and questions.
