Welcome
March 2023
Dear Friends,
Thank you to all the incredible supporters who have made thoughtful donations to The Newark Catholic High School Foundation this past year. Because of your generosity, we were able to provide Newark Catholic High School $15,000 for the National Day of Giving. Your loyal support has enabled the Foundation to provide over $2,300,000 to Newark Catholic since the Foundation’s inception in 1984.
You can continue to make a difference by making a gift to the Foundation today online at www.newarkcatholic.org or mail your gift in the envelope enclosed. You may wish to make your gift in memory of a deceased classmate, relative, or friend. Please make all checks payable to NCHS Foundation. All gifts to the Foundation are welcome and no gift is too small.
Also, if you have a regular Individual Retirement Account (IRA) and you are age 70 ½ or older, you are eligible to use your IRA to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) to qualified charities of your choice. By making an eligible QCD from your regular IRA you can avoid Federal and State taxes on the QCD. This is more tax efficient than using cash to make a charitable contribution. If you are interested in learning more about a gift to The Newark Catholic High School Foundation with a QCD, please call the Foundation office at 740-344-5671, or consult your tax advisor.
As always, thank you for your continued support of The Newark Catholic High School Foundation.
Sincerely,
Thomas Marcelain (’76)

About The Foundation
In 1984, a group of community leaders recognized a need for an endowment fund for Newark Catholic High School. The Newark Catholic High School Foundation was established to ensure the future of Catholic secondary education in our area. A capital campaign raised over $500,000 in 1985, and over $400,000 was raised in 1989. With annual giving campaigns and the generosity of the community, the Foundation has accumulated cash and pledges of over two million dollars. Because of this generosity, The Newark Catholic High School Foundation has provided just over two million dollars to Newark Catholic since inception.
It is the Foundation’s hope that, with the continued generosity of the alumni, parents, and friends of the community, we can substantially increase cash and pledges and therefore increase our annual gift to Newark Catholic High School.
Goals Of The Foundation
- To invest prudently and only distribute investment income in order to maintain the long term stability of Newark Catholic High School.
- To keep in mind the need to make tuition more affordable for every student who wishes to attend Newark Catholic.
- To provide grants to the Newark Catholic High Schools operating budget.
- To actively involve members of the community either Catholic or non-Catholic, to ensure that an alternative source of education is always available to those who want it.

Legacy Award
The Newark Catholic High School Foundation honors supporters of time, talent and stewardship through the years with the Legacy Award, established in 2022.
Clair and Julie Schell were honored with the first Legacy Award the evening of May 26, 2022. They were recognized by their peers and all of those who have the pleasure of knowing them with a meet and greet and program in the Newark Catholic Auditorium. J.D. Graham served as the Master of Ceremony taking us through their years of dedication and commitment to NC. It was a wonderful evening of community support.

Thank You For Supporting Newark Catholic High School Foundation
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.
