Give a gift you know makes a difference.
Transform your tax dollars into scholarships for Newark Catholic students. Lower what you owe on your 2025 Ohio state taxes if you donate to Emmaus Road by April 15, 2026. Those dollars will support students in the 2027-2028 school year.
Giving has never been easier or more meaningful. Through Ohio’s Scholarship Granting Organizations (SGO), the Emmaus Road Scholarship offers a dollar-for-dollar Ohio income tax credit—up to $750 for individuals or $1,500 for couples filing jointly.
That means you can support a Newark Catholic student at no net cost to you.
Anyone can give a gift—parents, grandparents, alumni, parishioners, and friends—anyone who believes in making Catholic education accessible and affordable.
If you pay Ohio state taxes, you qualify for this credit and can designate your gift to Newark Catholic. Simply check line 10 of your Ohio IT 1040 to see how much you pay in state taxes.
Your tax dollars can change a life.

Ohio Individual Income Tax Return Rates for 2024
The following rates apply to Ohio Taxable income for all filers for the 2024 tax year
| Ohio Taxable Income | Tax Calculation |
| $0 - $26,050 | 0% |

There is no gift too big or too small! For purposes of the tax credit, up to $750 per person per year ($1,500 for those married filing jointly) can be claimed.
To qualify for the tax credit, you must file an Ohio tax return and have an Ohio tax liability. When filing your taxes, you may need documentation of your donation, which the Office of Catholic Schools will prepare and mail to you.
Your donation qualifies as a tax credit! A tax credit reduces the amount of taxes you owe dollar for dollar, while a tax deduction only reduces your taxable income before your taxes are calculated.
Those who itemize may claim charitable contributions to other nonprofit organizations on their state and federal taxes while still receiving this scholarship granting organization tax credit.
Any student can apply for a scholarship. Scholarships will be prioritized for low-income students (designated as 300% of the federal poverty line).
