Growing Green
Something Meaningful Is Taking Root At Newark Catholic - And It's Just The Beginning
Our new greenhouse is more than a structure; it’s a hands-on learning environment where students connect classroom knowledge to real-world experience. Led by Dr. Bell and supported by our Biology II students, the project has been thoughtfully researched and brought to life through a combination of grant funding, student-led fundraising, and generous community support.
Inside the greenhouse, students will explore plant science, sustainability, and environmental stewardship while developing skills in research, problem-solving, and collaboration. The space will support courses like Biology and Environmental Science, while also opening the door for new extracurricular opportunities and student-led initiatives.
Looking ahead, the greenhouse will serve our broader school community as well—with the potential to incorporate student-grown produce into school meals and expand partnerships rooted in service and sustainability.
This project reflects what makes Newark Catholic unique: students taking ownership, educators guiding with purpose, and a community coming together to create something lasting.
Stay tuned as we continue to grow.
