Hall Of Fame

NEWARK, Ohio - Newark Catholic High School and the Newark Catholic Athletic Association are pleased to announce its the 10th Hall of Fame induction class recognizing exceptional athletes, coaches and contributors who have played a significant role in the history and success of Newark Catholic athletics.

The 2026 class includes:

Chris Marshall (1979)

Chris Marshall excelled in both track and football. He received All-Ohio first-team honors in 1978 and special mention in 1977 in football, rushing for 1,000+ yards as both a junior and senior.

Dan McKenna (1979)

Dan McKenna was Football team MVP in 1977 and 1978. He also received All-Ohio first-team honors in 1978 (linebacker) and special mention in 1977 in football. McKenna played football at Ohio University.

Marshall and McKenna made up the last backfield in school history to each rush for 1,000+ yards in a season and led the Green Wave to the school’s first OHSAA playoff championship in 1978.

Paul Cost (1982)

Paul Cost was All-Ohio in two sports earning first-team honors in football in 1981, honorable mention football in 1980 and first-team honors in baseball in 1982. Cost held the OHSAA record for most tackles (18) in a state championship game (18) from 1981 to 2024. Cost played baseball at Ohio Dominican.

Camillus Musselman (1990)

Camillus Musselman was also All-Ohio in two sports earning first-team honors in football in 1989, honorable mention in football in 1988 and first-team honors in wrestling in 1990. Musselman placed 4th in the 1990 state finals in the 189 lb. weight class, finishing with a record of 33-4. Musselman played football at Virginia Military Institute (VMI).

Danny Webb (1996)

Danny Webb was accomplished in track & field becoming the school’s only two-time state individual champion. Webb won a record-setting 800-meter state championship in 1996 and was part of the 4x800M state championship relay team in 1995.

Mike Klockner (1998)

Mike Klocker achieved distinction in football, basketball and baseball. His All-Ohio accolades include: 1997 - first-team honors in football, special mention in basketball and second-team honors in baseball; 1996 - honorable mention football and honorable mention basketball. Klockner played football at the University of Notre Dame.

Amy Clapper Hurley (2008)

Amy Clapper Hurley was a standout basketball player honored as Mid State League first-team for three years and conference player of the year in 2008. She earned All-Ohio first-team honors in 2008 and special mention in 2007. She totaled 1,208 points and 899 rebounds. Clapper played collegiately at the University of North Carolina - Greensboro.

Samantha Basham (2019)

Samantha Basham was a top performer in both volleyball and basketball. She received All Licking County League first or second-team honors all four years in both sports. Basham played volleyball at Eastern Michigan, tallying 1,074 kills and was named second team All-Mid American Conference in 2021.

Harlei Antritt (2021)

Harlei Antritt was a basketball and track & field standout. She twice received All-Ohio honors in basketball and track in 2021, finishing in 8th place in the discus state finals. She totaled 1,255 points and 801 rebounds. Antritt played basketball at Rio Grande University appearing in 130 games in her career.

Jeri Helfer - Coach

Jeri Helfer graduated from NC in 1988 and coached volleyball from 2000-2016 with a career record of 379-80 (.826%). She was recognized as the Central District Coach of the Year fourteen times. Helfer led the Green Wave to the 2004 Division III state championship.

Don Roderick - Award of Merit

Don Roderick provided decades of support not only to Newark Catholic but to all of Licking County female athletics. Roderick was a long-time assistant volleyball coach at NC and also coached at Newark and Utica high schools.

The 2026 NC Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the Newark Catholic High School gymnasium. The inductees will also be recognized at the home football game the night before, with a reception following. More information on these events, including tickets and sponsorship opportunities, will be announced this summer.

The Newark Catholic Athletic Hall of Fame was established in 1998 to honor the athletes, coaches and individuals whose accomplishments and service have built and sustained a tradition of excellence in the school and community.
