Libby Ewing - Class of 2002

The road to film began at an early age for Libby Ewing, 2002 graduate. She has fond memories of growing up in a family that encouraged her to be whatever your heart desired. As a child, she remembers playing dress up and always tried to weasel her way out of projects as a student at Blessed Sacrament by writing commercials and filming. She was a part of Drama all four years at Newark Catholic, along with VP of Class Council and involved in Channel Nunn, and always loved reading, writing, and performance. It wasn’t until a trip her sophomore year with Mr. B to NY City and attending Ragtime on Broadway that truly encapsulated what her future would hold.

Libby went on the study at Rutgers University. Upon graduation, she moved to NY for 5 years where she worked for off Broadway shows, wrote, and attended workshops. In her words, she could walk into any restaurant or bar and run it as the stereotypical road to theater success typically translates. As an actor wanting to be in front of the camera, she decided to move to LA where she hired an agent and began a career of film and television. For twelve years, she studied all facets of each job during breaks on set, which led her back to New York and behind the camera, which earned the coveted Tribecca Film Award 2025 for best U.S Narrative Feature in her directorial debut, CHARLIEBIRD. Her latest project is adapting Tongues of Deception for film, which has close ties to central Ohio.

Reflecting on what makes Newark Catholic High School so special, Libby believes it taught her interpersonal life skills: empathy, community, and a sense of responsibility to one another. She values being pushed hard to be her best in a small, intimate setting of tradition and Catholic culture. For a complete bio and list of accolades, visit www.libbyewing.com.
